Suburb Information
Thorneside is one of the 12 Mainland Suburbs and 10 Island Suburbs that the Redlands Coast Shire is comprised of. It is both the smallest mainland suburb and the closest to Brisbane CBD and retains its village like feel.
There are the waters along Queens Esplanade for kayaking, the koala habitat areas, sporting fields and parks that add to the charm of this bayside suburb.
These include William Taylor Sportsground with the Mooroondu Football Club and skate park, Beth Boyd Park, Wynnum Redlands Canoe Club, Frank Street Bushland Refuge and Jack and Edna Finney Reserve.
The Howeston Golf Course is close by in Birkdale which has its own mini mall, Birkdale Fair, with supermarkets etc.
The local shops in Thorneside include cafes, such as the Blue Tongue Pantry, pharmacy, hairdressers, bottle shop and convenience stores. There is also an industrial area as well.
If the city life calls you then commuting to the CBD is simple with Thorneside train station.
Schools: The area is surrounded by schools at Birkdale, Wellington Point, Alexandra Hills, and Capalaba.
