Rural lifestyle is what Mount Cotton is all about. Homes are in clustered areas throughout the native bush expanses.
Places of note in Mount Cotton are the award winning Sirromet Winery which has tastings, events, family friendly grounds including Supa Golf, stunning views, and a Tuscan restaurant with outdoor seating. Other places of note are the Venman Bushland National Park, where you just might spot wallabies, possums, sugar gliders, owls and other wildlife. There is also the Mount Cotton Hillclimb which is a permanent tarmac hill climbing circuit at Mount Cotton. It is owned and run by the MG Car Club of Queensland. The Queensland Hillclimb Championship is normally run there every year, and the Australian Hillclimb Championship is run there every 7 years.
There is a local shopping centre at 101 Valley Way with the major shopping hub at Victoria Point a short drive away as well as a new shopping centre being built at the end of Panorama Drive and a massive sporting complex destined for Mount Cotton over 101 hectares.
Schools: Historic Mount Cotton State School is the hub of this small, close-knit community with public high schools at both Victoria Point and Shailer Park.
Commuting: Cleveland is the closest railway station, while Transdev Queensland operates bus services.
